Fruit Monster Island is a captivating match-3 puzzle game that challenges players to strategically slice fruit to feed their monster companions. Players must match three or more identical fruits in a straight line by swiping their finger across the screen. Each level offers a choice between three distinct monsters: Drakon, Kira, or Steve. These monsters possess unique powers that are triggered once a sufficient amount of fruit has been sliced, assisting players in achieving level objectives through explosions and lightning effects. The monster's power bar fills up as fruits are sliced, allowing players to unleash their powers by tapping on the monster and then selecting the desired fruit.
The core gameplay revolves around matching fruits, requiring a minimum of three fruits in a row to form a match. Additional matches provide players with special new fruits such as fruit bombs, line bombs, and electric bombs. Fruit bombs are created by slicing four matching fruits, while line and electric bombs are generated by slicing five or more identical fruits consecutively. These bombs can be activated by slicing them as with regular fruits.
The game features five distinct islands, each housing 21 unique levels with varying objectives. Players are tasked with achieving specific scores, obtaining particular fruit bombs, or breaking objective pieces within the levels. Objective pieces include purple starfish that descend when surrounded by sliced fruit and starfish encased in ice blocks, requiring three slices to release them. Additionally, players must interact with game elements such as blocks of ice, steel blocks, and pearls enclosed in shells. Level performance is evaluated on a 1 to 3-star rating system, encouraging players to strive for a perfect score on every level.
Fruit Monster Island offers an ad-free version of the game as its sole in-app purchase. The game stands out by providing an enjoyable and fair gameplay experience without imposing restrictions or challenges that necessitate additional purchases. Players can progress through all levels without making any purchases or encountering artificial delays.
